What this amendment would do
Mr. Booker submitted amendment SA 2170, which proposes to establish a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to supporting workers.
The purpose of this amendment is to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise budget allocations and make pay-as-you-go adjustments. These changes can be made for legislation relating to supporting workers, which explicitly includes preventing cuts of the Department of Labor's workforce.
To make these changes happen, the legislation must meet one specific rule: it would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
