What this amendment would do
MR. MARKEY submitted amendment numbered SA 2161 to the concurrent resolution H. Con. Res. 14, which establishes the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and sets forth budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
Purpose and Changes
The purpose of the amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to limiting air pollution from private jets.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger. This is for legislation relating to requiring ultra-wealthy individuals to pay for pollution from private jet travel and using that funding to reduce air pollution on nearby communities.
The amendment specifies that this is allowed provided that the resulting legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
