What this amendment would do
MR. HAGERTY submitted the amendment, numbered SA 2154, to the concurrent resolution H. Con. Res. 14 for the fiscal year 2025 congressional budget.
The purpose of the amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to accountability for leaking classified information to the Iranian regime or Iran-backed foreign terrorist organizations.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
This applies to legislation relating to accountability for the improper release of classified information.
The legislation may include efforts to hold accountable any former officials of the Department of State who knowingly leaked classified information to the Iranian regime or Iran-backed foreign terrorist organizations, but have not faced criminal penalties for any acts of treason.
These changes can only happen provided that the legislation would not increase the deficit over the period of the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
