What this amendment would do
MR. SCHIFF submitted SA 2146 as an amendment to the concurrent resolution establishing the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to small business disaster response.
Here is what it aims to change or add:
- It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
- These revisions are for legislation relating to ensuring robust and prompt disaster assistance for businesses affected by wildfires.
- The legislation may include prohibiting reductions in staffing, reductions in funding, or office closures or relocations at the Small Business Administration.
- These changes can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
