What this amendment would do
As folks looking out for the working people who elect us, we need to keep our officials accountable for keeping workplaces safe. This amendment, submitted by Mr. Markey as SA 2137, aims to set up a deficit-neutral reserve fund.
Purpose and Changes
-
The amendment allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make changes and adjustments for legislation related to enforcing labor laws.
-
It specifically covers prohibiting any decreases in funding for, or any reductions in force at, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration of the Department of Labor.
-
These changes can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
