What this amendment would do
As folks looking out for the common sense use of our tax dollars and the wellbeing of everyday people, here is what this amendment by Ms. Klobuchar is all about.
The purpose of this amendment is to set up a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to lowering the cost of prescription drugs.
What it aims to change or add to the bill is that it allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution. It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to lowering the cost of prescription drugs. This may include capping the cost of certain generic prescription drugs under the Medicare program, as long as that legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
