What this amendment would do

  • Its purpose is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to programs to support law enforcement hiring and the purchasing of equipment.

What It Aims to Change or Add

  • It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to change allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
  • It allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to programs that support hiring and the purchasing of equipment by law enforcement agencies.
  • These changes can only happen as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
