What this amendment would do
As folks looking out for the hardworking people we send to Washington, we need to keep a close eye on how our elected officials handle our safety and our tax dollars. Ms. Klobuchar submitted SA 2115, which sets up a deficit-neutral reserve fund for providing public safety officer benefits for exposure-related cancers.
To put it in plain English, this amendment gives the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget the green light to make adjustments and changes to budget levels and the pay-as-you-go ledger. This allows Congress to pass legislation providing benefits to public safety officers dealing with exposure-related cancers, with one strict rule: the legislation cannot increase the federal deficit between fiscal years 2025 and 2034.
