What this amendment would do
Mr. Schiff submitted amendment numbered SA 2080 to the concurrent resolution H. Con. Res. 14. Its purpose is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting the economic security of farmers and ranchers in the United States.
What It Aims to Change or Add
-
The amendment allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.
-
It allows adjustments to be made to the pay-as-you-go ledger for bills, joint resolutions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or conference reports relating to protecting the economic security of farmers and ranchers in the United States.
-
It may include legislation to ensure that support provided to farmers suffering from the loss of export markets or increased costs as a result of tariffs is allocated proportionally to the farmers' professional and financial hardship without regard to their geographic location.
-
These changes are allowed provided that such legislation would not increase the deficit over the period of the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
