What this amendment would do
Mr. Booker submitted SA 2062, which creates a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to safeguarding teacher salaries.
What it aims to change or add
This amendment allows the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise budget allocations and adjustments for legislation that relates to safeguarding teacher salaries.
Specifically, it allows changes that may include prohibiting any changes that would result in reducing teacher salaries due to cuts to title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 or the Head Start Act.
The catch is that any such legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
