What this amendment would do

Mr. Booker submitted amendment SA 2048 to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to allowing Federal agencies to observe and permit celebrations for certain holidays.

What it Aims to Change or Add

The amendment allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution. It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to allowing Federal agencies to observe and permit celebrations for certain holidays.

These celebrations may include:

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Black History Month
  • Women's History Month
  • Holocaust Remembrance Day
  • Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month
  • LGBTQ Pride Month
  • Juneteenth
  • Women's Equality Day
  • National Hispanic Heritage Month
  • National Disability Employment Awareness Day
  • National American Indian Heritage Month

These adjustments can be made provided that the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
