What this amendment would do
-
This is SA 2044, submitted by Mr. Booker for the congressional budget resolution for fiscal year 2025.
-
The purpose of the amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to reducing lead in drinking water.
-
It allows the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to change budget allocations, aggregates, and other levels for legislation that focuses on reducing lead in drinking water.
-
The changes can support protecting existing Federal funding for lead service line replacement in drinking water systems, schools, child care facilities, or communities nationwide.
-
The main rule is that any legislation using this fund must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
