What this amendment would do
As folks keeping an eye on how our government spends money, we need to know what our elected officials are putting on the table. Ms. Warren submitted SA 2025, which is an amendment intended for the concurrent resolution on the budget for fiscal year 2025.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund. This allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make adjustments to committee allocations and other levels for legislation related to United States financial sanctions.
- The changes can include imposing sanctions in response to the Russian Federation's continued attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.
- These attacks specifically take place after President Trump's announcement of an immediate Ceasefire on all Energy and Infrastructure.
- Any legislation handled this way must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
