What this amendment would do
Mr. King submitted amendment SA 2003 to the concurrent resolution on the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025. The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to TRIO programs.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger. This applies to legislation providing grants to institutions of higher education and other organizations across the country.
These grants are intended to help students from low-income families, first generation college students, and students with disabilities prepare for, apply to, and succeed in college. This may include safeguarding the TRIO programs that identify, reach out to, and serve students and individuals who qualify for such funding, provided that the legislation does not increase the deficit over the period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
