What this amendment would do

Mr. Warnock submitted amendment numbered SA 1988 to the concurrent resolution establishing the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.

What It Aims to Change or Add

  • It adds a point of order in the Senate against considering any legislation providing appropriations for the Federal government unless it prohibits contracts or payment to companies owned by Elon Musk while he is serving as a special Government employee and for one year thereafter.

  • It requires an affirmative vote of three-fifths of the Members, duly chosen and sworn, to waive or suspend this point of order in the Senate.

  • It requires an affirmative vote of three-fifths of the Members of the Senate, duly chosen and sworn, to sustain an appeal of the ruling of the Chair on this point of order.
