What this amendment would do
Mr. Booker submitted amendment SA 1981, which proposes setting up a deficit-neutral reserve fund for the purpose of lowering prescription drugs for the American people.
-
The amendment allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other levels in the resolution.
-
It allows adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to lowering prescription drug costs and promoting access to innovative drug therapies.
-
This may include implementing health care payment and delivery models for people enrolled in Medicare and Medicaid, including models that may lead to $2 copayments on generic drugs for common chronic conditions.
-
The changes are allowed as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
