What this amendment would do
As folks keeping an eye on how our tax dollars are handled, we need to know what our elected officials are trying to do with our budget. This amendment, submitted by Ms. Hassan, sets up a deficit-neutral reserve fund.
Purpose and Changes
The whole point of this amendment is to give the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate the power to make changes to budget levels and allocations.
These changes are meant for legislation that relates to restoring full Federal Government operations or staffing for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
The important rule attached to this is that any legislation doing this cannot increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
