What this amendment would do

What the Amendment is About:

This is an amendment submitted by Ms. Hassan, designated as SA 1906, for the concurrent resolution H. Con. Res. 14 for the fiscal year 2025 budget.

Purpose and Changes:

  • The amendment adds a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to fully restoring operations at the Department of Education.

  • It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.

  • It allows adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for bills, joint resolutions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or conference reports relating to fully restoring operations at the Department of Education.

  • These revisions and adjustments are allowed as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
