What this amendment would do
What it is: This is an amendment numbered SA 1902, submitted by Ms. Hassan. Its purpose is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to lowering prescription drug costs for patients.
What it aims to change or add: It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution. It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
The conditions: These revisions and adjustments can only be made for legislation relating to increasing competition among prescription drugs and lowering prescription drug costs for patients. Crucially, that legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
