What this amendment would do
Mr. Sullivan submitted amendment numbered SA 1896 to the concurrent resolution establishing the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting Medicare and Medicaid. It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
This action can be taken for legislation relating to protecting the Medicaid program, which may include strengthening and improving Medicaid for the most vulnerable populations, and extending the life of the Federal Hospital Insurance Trust Fund. These changes can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
