What this amendment would do
Mr. Van Hollen submitted amendment numbered 1861 to the concurrent resolution for the congressional budget for fiscal year 2025. As folks we have elected to office, our officials need to be held accountable for how they handle our business, and this amendment sets aside a special fund in the budget.
What It Aims to Change or Add
The amendment adds a deficit-neutral reserve fund to the budget resolution. Here is what it aims to do:
- Give the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget the power to change budget allocations and make adjustments.
- Focus these changes on legislation relating to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid beneficiaries.
- Specifically include legislation that aims to protect sensitive and personally identifiable information for those beneficiaries.
- Ensure that any such legislation does not increase the federal deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
