What this amendment would do
Mr. Warner submitted this amendment, numbered SA 1845, to hold our officials accountable regarding the costs of health care for kids on Medicaid. Common sense tells us that when we vote for people to represent us, we want to make sure they are not pushing budgets that make things harder for families.
What It Aims to Change
- It adds a new point of order in the Senate.
- It stops the Senate from considering certain budget bills, joint resolutions, amendments, or conference reports if they increase health care costs for children receiving Medicaid.
- It requires a three-fifths vote of the Senate to waive this rule or to successfully appeal a ruling made by the Chair about this point of order.
