What this amendment would do

Mr. Warner submitted SA 1833, which is an amendment for the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025. This is meant to keep our elected officials accountable by setting up a specific financial reserve fund.

What It Aims to Change or Add

  • The amendment adds a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to preserving funding and staffing levels at the Department of Education as of January 19, 2025.

  • It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to change allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.

  • These changes apply to one or more bills, joint resolutions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or conference reports relating to preserving funding and staffing levels at the Department of Education, which may include supporting the Department's mission of supporting elementary and secondary education and higher education.

  • This can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
