What this amendment would do
Mr. Kelly submitted amendment SA 1827 to support federal law enforcement personnel who continue combating child trafficking and to protect them from workforce reductions directed by the Department of Government Efficiency.
What It Aims to Change or Add
The amendment adds a deficit-neutral reserve fund to the end of title III of the concurrent resolution. This allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other levels for legislation relating to protecting federal employees who combat child trafficking.
This legislation may include:
- Prohibiting the reassignment, termination, or laying off of federal employees whose job is to disrupt, investigate, or prosecute child trafficking.
- Prohibiting reduction in force actions for any federal agency with a mission that includes protecting the people of the United States against child trafficking.
These adjustments are allowed as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
