What this amendment would do
Mr. Kim submitted amendment SA 1733 to the concurrent resolution H. Con. Res. 14 for the fiscal year 2025 budget.
The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund related to strengthening the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) benefits for eligible children.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise allocations and make adjustments for legislation relating to CHIP, provided the legislation does not increase the deficit from fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
The amendment specifically notes that this can include barring the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) from reallocating, delaying, or repurposing funds authorized for providing healthcare coverage for children.
