What this amendment would do
Mr. Kim submitted amendment SA 1731 to the concurrent resolution H. Con. Res. 14 for the fiscal year 2025 budget. As folks who put these officials in office, we need to know what they are trying to change so we can hold them accountable.
-
It creates a new point of order in the Senate.
-
It stops the Senate from considering any legislation, bill, joint resolution, motion, amendment, or conference report that uses a baseline other than the current law baseline when that current law baseline shows an increase in the deficit.
-
It sets a strict rule that this can only be bypassed or appealed by a three-fifths vote of the chosen and sworn members of the Senate.
