What this amendment would do
Mr. Luján submitted amendment numbered SA 1710 to establish a deficit-neutral reserve fund.
What It Aims to Change or Add
The amendment aims to add a section to the concurrent resolution that allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels. It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to:
- Supporting research relating to and preserving Native language, culture, and knowledge
- Native American-Serving Nontribal Institutions (commonly known as NASNTIs)
- Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian-Serving Institutions (commonly known as ANNHIs)
This can only happen if the legislation provides amounts for those purposes and would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
