What this amendment would do
Mr. Luján submitted amendment SA 1709, which aims to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to preventing Social Security Administration field office closures.
Purpose and Changes
The purpose of this amendment is to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make adjustments and revise allocations for legislation related to protecting access to Social Security benefits.
To do this, the amendment aims to add a provision that allows these changes as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
