What this amendment would do

MR. LUJAN submitted amendment numbered SA 1706 to the concurrent resolution establishing the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025.

The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund. This fund relates to strengthening Head Start programs, Early Head Start programs, and tribally operated versions of both programs.

The amendment aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution. It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation that strengthens these programs, as long as that legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
