What this amendment would do

MR. REED submitted this amendment, labeled SA 1692, to be proposed for the concurrent resolution H. Con. Res. 14 for the fiscal year 2025 budget.

The purpose of the amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting veterans and servicemembers from being scammed by financial institutions, which includes enforcing the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and the Military Lending Act.

It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution, and to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.

These changes are for legislation relating to veterans and servicemembers, specifically to protect them from financial scams or through the enforcement of the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act and the Military Lending Act.

The amendment applies as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
