What this amendment would do
As folks down at the Capitol keep an eye on the budget, Mr. Welch put forward amendment SA 1664 to the concurrent resolution for the fiscal year 2025 budget.
What It Aims to Do
-
The amendment adds a new deficit-neutral reserve fund to the end of title III of the budget resolution.
-
It gives the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget the power to change financial allocations and make adjustments.
-
These changes apply to legislation relating to denaturalization, which can include reporting on how government resources are used to investigate, denaturalize, and deport foreign-born United States citizens.
-
The catch is that any such legislation cannot increase the overall deficit for the fiscal years spanning from 2025 through 2034.
