What this amendment would do
Mr. Bennet submitted SA 1660 to the concurrent resolution establishing the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
- The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to teacher and educator training or preparation programs.
- It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
- These adjustments are for legislation relating to the Supporting Effective Educator Development grant program (the SEED program) and teacher training or preparation programs.
- It may include prohibiting any reduction in funding for the SEED program or any other teacher training program that provides funding to increase the number of highly effective educators by supporting the implementation of evidence-based practices that prepare, develop, or enhance the skills of teachers, principals, or other school leaders.
- This is allowed provided that such legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
