What this amendment would do
Mr. Bennet submitted SA 1659, which proposes a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to public school choice to be added to the concurrent resolution.
What It Aims to Change or Add
The amendment aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make certain financial adjustments. Specifically, it allows the Chairman to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.
These adjustments can be made for one or more bills, joint resolutions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or conference reports that relate to public school choice.
There is a strict common-sense rule attached to this: the legislation must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
