What this amendment would do

MR. GALLEGO submitted amendment SA 1657, which proposes adding a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to oversight of implementation of tariffs to the concurrent resolution.

The purpose of this amendment is to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make changes to committee allocations, aggregates, appropriate levels, and the pay-as-you-go ledger.

This change aims to support legislation that increases oversight of the implementation of tariffs by the United States Trade Representative and the Department of Commerce. It also targets the process for entities and individuals to secure exclusions from tariffs, as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit from fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
