What this amendment would do
Mr. Gallego submitted amendment numbered SA 1656, which proposes a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to increasing the Federal minimum wage to $17 an hour over a 5-year period.
The purpose of this amendment is to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make changes and adjustments to committee allocations, aggregates, and the pay-as-you-go ledger. These changes are meant for legislation relating to increasing the Federal minimum wage.
The amendment aims to add a provision that allows these financial adjustments as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
