What this amendment would do

As folks who want to make sure our government works for us, we need to keep an eye on how our elected officials handle our money and our healthcare. Senator Duckworth, along with Senator Booker, put forward an amendment numbered SA 1641.

The purpose of this amendment is to set up a deficit-neutral reserve fund. This allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make adjustments to budget levels and the pay-as-you-go ledger.

What this aims to change or add to the bill is the ability to fund legislation relating to reproductive health care. Specifically, it covers protecting access to, improving, or expanding nationwide coverage for reproductive health care, including fertility treatment services like in vitro fertilization, as long as it follows accepted medical standards and does not increase the deficit from fiscal year 2025 through 2034.
