What this amendment would do

Mr. Kaine submitted SA 161, which is an amendment meant to be proposed to the concurrent resolution on the budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025.

Its Purpose and What It Adds to the Bill

The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting rural hospitals and ensuring rural communities do not lose access to health care.

Specifically, it aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution. It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to promoting access to health care in rural communities, which may include protecting the rural health care workforce. These revisions and adjustments can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
