What this amendment would do
Mrs. Blackburn submitted amendment SA 1607, which proposes to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to finding misspent tax dollars at federal agencies. Folks, if we want to hold our elected officials and government accountable, we need to know where our hard-earned money is going. Common sense tells us we shouldn't be wasting taxpayer dollars.
What It Aims to Change
The amendment aims to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to change budget allocations and make adjustments for legislation related to establishing the Campaign to Cut Waste. This renewed effort focuses on finding misspent tax dollars at federal agencies.
Specifically, the amendment allows for actions that may include:
- Getting rid of pointless waste and spending that doesn't benefit anybody
- Getting rid of or consolidating Federal Government websites
- Identifying Federal buildings that nobody uses
The text requires that any such legislation would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
