What this amendment would do
-
Sets up a fund: The amendment creates what is called a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to preventing Medicaid cuts to children with disabilities.
-
Gives budgeting power: It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to change budget allocations and make adjustments for legislation related to health care access.
-
Protects kids: The changes can be used for legislation that blocks Medicaid cuts which would compromise services to children with disabilities, specifically mentioning school-based services, respite care, family peer support services, pre-vocational services, or community transition services.
-
Keeps the budget balanced: Any legislation passed using this fund must not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
