What this amendment would do
As folks working for you in Congress, we need to keep a close eye on how government agencies are allowed to treat their workers. This amendment, submitted by Mr. King and Mr. Van Hollen, sets up a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to public health.
Purpose and Changes
The amendment aims to allow changes to the budget for legislation regarding public health. Specifically, it allows for rules prohibiting the Food and Drug Administration from firing staff unless there is cause or a genuine performance justification and if doing so is opposed to the work of the Food and Drug Administration.
- The legislation must not increase the deficit over the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
