What this amendment would do

As your congressional analyst, let us look at what Senator Warren and Senator Markey are trying to do here. Common sense tells us we need to keep an eye on how our elected officials handle the people's money and our veterans.

This amendment sets up a deficit-neutral reserve fund. Its purpose is to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to make adjustments to financial levels and the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation that relates to a specific group of people.

  • Reinstating veterans in Massachusetts who were employed by Federal agencies as probationary employees and have been fired or separated from service.

The catch is that any legislation doing this cannot increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
