What this amendment would do

Ms. Warren, along with Mr. Markey, submitted this amendment to the congressional budget resolution for fiscal year 2025. As folks who rely on accountability from our elected officials, it is important to look at what this does plainly.

The purpose of the amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to protecting support for farmers in the State of Massachusetts.

What It Aims to Change or Add

  • It allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution.

  • It allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to protecting the continued operation of Federal offices and services relied on by farmers in the State of Massachusetts.

  • It specifically includes the offices of the Farm Service Agency and the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

  • It applies as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
