What this amendment would do

Ms. Warren, along with Mr. Markey, submitted this amendment to hold the line on the budget regarding our local libraries and museums. Common sense tells us that when we vote for officials, we expect them to protect the funding our communities rely on.

What It Changes

  • Adds a new section to the end of title III for a deficit-neutral reserve fund.

  • Aims to prevent any cuts to funding for Massachusetts under the Museum and Library Services Act.

  • Allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations and adjustments as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit from fiscal year 2025 through 2034.
