What this amendment would do

Mr. King submitted amendment SA 1512 to the concurrent resolution H. Con. Res. 14 for the fiscal year 2025 budget.

The purpose of this amendment is to create a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to maintenance. It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to make adjustments and revise allocations, aggregates, and the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to maintenance.

How It Works For the People

This change covers maintenance and repairs to Coast Guard installations, including remote duty stations.

The big catch to hold our officials accountable is that any legislation using this fund would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
