What this amendment would do
Mr. King submitted amendment SA 1506, which was ordered to lie on the table. It is intended to be proposed to the concurrent resolution H. Con. Res. 14, establishing the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
Purpose and Changes
The amendment aims to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to search and rescue operations to the bill.
Specifically, it allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger. This can be done for legislation relating to search and rescue operations, including legislation that would bolster Coast Guard operations based out of remote duty stations within the United States.
To make these changes happen, the legislation must meet a strict rule: it would not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
