What this amendment would do

Mr. Welch submitted SA 1498, which is an amendment intended to be proposed to the concurrent resolution H. Con. Res. 14.

Its Purpose

The purpose of this amendment is to add a DEFICIT-NEUTRAL RESERVE FUND RELATING TO STUDYING THE IMPACT OF CONSOLIDATION ON FOOD PRICES at the end of title III.

What it Aims to Change or Add

The amendment allows the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution. It also allows the Chairman to make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger for legislation relating to addressing the rising costs of food by studying the impact that consolidation in the food industry has on food prices. These revisions and adjustments can be made by the amounts provided in such legislation, as long as the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
