What this amendment would do
MR. WELCH submitted amendment SA 1479 to the concurrent resolution H. Con. Res. 14, which establishes the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and sets forth appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to prohibiting the reduction or closure of Social Security field offices located in rural communities.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise committee allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger. This applies to legislation relating to prohibiting the reduction or closure of Social Security field offices located in rural communities, provided that the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
