What this amendment would do
As folks working for you in Congress, we need to keep an eye on how our tax dollars and approved funds are handled. Ms. Rosen submitted amendment SA 1414 to the congressional budget resolution for fiscal year 2025.
Purpose of the Amendment
The main point of this amendment is to set up a deficit-neutral reserve fund. In plain English, this gives the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget the power to change budget levels and make adjustments for legislation that forces executive branch agencies to do their jobs and actually hand out money.
What It Aims to Change or Add
-
It adds a focus on requiring executive branch agencies to disburse certain funds to eligible entities that have approved agreements with the Federal Government.
-
It targets funds that have already been legally appropriated by Congress and allocated by those agencies, which can include funds from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
-
It ensures that any legislation handling this money will not increase the deficit over the fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
