What this amendment would do

Mr. Bennet submitted SA 1396, which is an amendment intended to be proposed for the concurrent resolution H. Con. Res. 14 establishing the congressional budget for the United States Government for fiscal year 2025 and setting forth the appropriate budgetary levels for fiscal years 2026 through 2034.

The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to rehiring red card holders at the end of title III. It aims to allow the Chairman of the Committee on the Budget of the Senate to revise allocations, aggregates, and other appropriate levels in the resolution, and make adjustments to the pay-as-you-go ledger.

This can be done for one or more bills, joint resolutions, amendments, amendments between the Houses, motions, or conference reports relating to public land. This may include rehiring Federal land management agency personnel with a role in wildfire risk reduction, commonly known as red card holders, by the amounts provided in such legislation for those purposes, as long as that legislation does not increase the deficit over the period of the total of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
