What this amendment would do
Mr. Bennet submitted SA 1370, which is an amendment intended to be proposed for the concurrent resolution on the congressional budget for fiscal year 2025 and the budgetary levels through 2034.
The purpose of this amendment is to add a deficit-neutral reserve fund relating to freedom of energy choice at the end of title III.
It aims to allow the Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Budget to revise allocations and make adjustments for legislation related to energy choice.
Specifically, this includes:
- Prohibiting any action that would lead to fewer energy options available to consumers
- Preventing restrictions on energy supply that would lead to increased energy costs for Americans
These changes can only happen if the legislation does not increase the deficit over the total period of fiscal years 2025 through 2034.
